Essay on the Limited Usefulness of Science

My crucial presentation

Introductory word

Dear readers and website visitors,

this is the website for the book Essay on the Limited Usefulness of Science. Although the book takes the apparent form of an essay, it is actually more or less a satirical detective investigation into the degree of truth of a certain strange statement. The book can also be taken as a philosophical reflection, a satire, a play, a comedy and a tragedy. It’s like a sort of potion, set for a BAD DOG that might come this way some day. The author of the book is neither a scientist nor a respected professional publicist, which is also why he thinks he can simply afford this style of story-telling. Where does the fun end and the serious business begin? That is for the reader or listener to choose.

This website, which I created in my rare moments of spare time at the request of the author of the book, is supplemented from time to time with additional information and material. This allows for continuous updating of the original book published in Czech in 2021 and in the English version in 2023.

Modern science and the whole scientific and technological development is seen here as a big and long-running global game, which is considered on this website in terms of one of the classic Murphy’s Laws.

This is the general principle known as Ginsberg’s Theorem*9, which states:

1. You can’t win.

2. You can’t break even.

3. You can’t even quit the game.

Can we apply this theorem to modern science and scientific and technological development?
If you are interested, I will be happy to guide you through this website.
Have a nice day.
